FAQ

What can I expect at a session?

Sessions typically last from 30-90 minutes. When we first meet, we will spend some time getting to know your pet to make them as comfortable as possible. We will make sure they are comfortable with the camera and the sounds it makes. We generally take action shots along with posed portraits for a variety of photos to choose from.

How do we book you?

After you go to our contact page and let us know you are interested, we will get some basic information and make sure that we’re the right photographer for you. There will be a phone consultation to answer any questions you might have and the Creative Fee will need paid in advance to reserve your date/time, along with a completed model release form. The Creative Fee includes the photographers time/talent and DOES NOT include digital files, prints or any other products.

What’s the model release for?

A model release is a legal release that is usually signed by the subject of the photographs which grants permission to publish the photographs. Since most pets cannot sign their own, the owner would be responsible for this.

Do you offer an online gallery to order my photos?

All photos are presented at an in-home preview, where all photos will be displayed, products are chosen and payment is collected.

Do you offer digital files?

We do offer digital files ala carte or at a discount when purchased with any wall art.

What if our session is coming up and the weather does not seem like it’s going to cooperate or if I become sick?

We will keep an eye out for the weather forecast and if it does not look promising, we can reschedule for another day. If you become ill and need to reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made prior to 14 days of the session are refundable. Cancellations made after this time will not be refundable but the session can be rescheduled. In the unfortunate case of the pet passing away before the session, the Creative Fee will be refunded.

How many pets are allowed per session?

A session includes up to 2 pets from the same household. Please contact us for pricing if you have more than 2 pets so we can accomodate you and your unique situation.

My dog is sick and doesn’t have much time left, can you fit us in?

Of course! Our Legacy session takes precedence and we will do our best to set up something immediately.

What is the best time for a session to take place?

The best time for photography is either first thing in the morning when it is just starting to get light out, and/or later in the evening about 1-2 hours before sunset. The sun is less harsh at this time, the light is “softer” and there is more flexibility for various locations.

What should I do with my pet prior to a session?

Taking your companion for a walk before a session will let them expend some energy so they are more willing to cooperate. Although a tired dog is a happy dog, each breed is different and they should not be “exhausted”, only relaxed. If you have a long-haired breed, you can give them a bath/groomed the day before.

What should I bring with me?

Yourself, your pet, leash, collar, water and bowl would be the basics. Also, if your pet has a favorite toy and/or treats!

Do you have a studio?

We are an on-location photographer. We travel to various locations, including parks, cities and locations of your choosing.

How far will you travel for a session?

We will generally travel up to a 15-mile radius of White Oak, PA. Arrangements can be made to shoot outside of this distance and a travel fee of $1.00/mile (one way) would apply.

What if my dog is not trained?

We have worked with blind, deaf, shy and unruly dogs in the past and are certain that we can bring out their best, while keeping them as comfortable as possible.

My dog can’t be trusted off-leash?

No worries! Although some dogs must remain on leash as they are very aloof, reactive or prey driven, we can usually remove the leash later using the magic of Photoshop. If you must use a leash, we ask that you either bring a light colored and/or thin leash if you want us to remove it.

My pet is shy/hyper/aggressive, what do we do?

For shy/aggressive dogs, we normally give them more “space” and use a longer lens to make them more comfortable along with picking a quieter location. For hyper dogs, the walk before the session should help but giving them more room to run (pending they have a good recall) would be ideal.

Can I be in the photos too?

We love catching people with their pets but out of privacy, we generally don’t make these public. You are more than welcome to be in the foreground or background of the images. We will never post a photo of you on anything without your permission.

What should I wear?

Don’t match your pet! If your pet is black, the worst color to wear would be black as there would be no contrast of where you end and they begin. Also keep in mind the setting in which the photos will be taken. If we are going into the woods somewhere, try to avoid browns and greens as they would act as camouflage with your surroundings.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we have both equipment and liability insurance.

Do you only photograph dogs?

We photograph all types of pets, dogs are just the most common.

Do you charge sales tax?

6% sales tax will be added to all products.
